Diploma in Residential Care Attendant (R.C.A.)
Program Overview
The purpose of the Residential Care Attendant (R.C.A.) program is to develop advocates and role models for the paraprofessional areas of Human Services and Healthcare in the community. (i.e., to set new standards in the knowledge base / training provided to those who support people in residential care.) This 26 week diploma program is designed for those who wish to qualify as Residential Care Attendant in a variety of health and human service agencies. The curriculum includes experiential lectures and workshops facilitated by specialized industry experts and work experience practicum at various governments, non-profit, institutional and community-based care agencies throughout the lower mainland. RCAs work as part of a team within a health care unit under the supervision of a health care professional such as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.

Upon Successful Completion of Residential Care Attendant Program,
student will be able to obtain:
1. Residential Care Attendant Diploma
2. First Aid Level 1 Certificate Issued by Red Cross
3. WHIMS Certificate
4. Food Safe Certificate
Duration and Financing
Duration: 26 weeks Full time (5 Hours in a day) including clinical work and practicum
